Monday’s Moments…

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”  - James 5:16

This verse helped us conclude our series on “Making Our Prayer Life Practical, Purposeful, and Powerful”, as yesterday we were reminded that our righteous is found only in Christ which has been initiated by our repentance… since the only thing good in me is Jesus, it is His goodness and righteousness that covers me and gives me position with God.  That position and accountability before God gives me His heavenly attention.  Although our prayers are still subject to His will, our prayer life become essential and effective in having a right relationship with our His Son, and our Lord.

Quote:Prayer is God’s idea, and Jesus has asked us to pray… Do not underestimate the power of prayer, and yet do not take it for granted either.”

Also yesterday, we celebrated as Alyvia Cato, Steve and Sherri Andersons granddaughter, came forward making a public decision to trust Jesus as her Lord and Savior… Praise the Lord and welcome Alyvia to our FBC Family of Faith!

Yesterday we had almost 30 ladies take part in our Ladies Ministry “Make & Take” craft luncheon, where they made holiday door hangers and wall art to help symbolize their faith.  Thank you ladies for your “craftiness” J, and thanks Rita for helping make all this happen!  (see attached pictures)

Next Sunday is our Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Dedication – If you have filled a shoebox, bring it with you to church this Sunday to add to our collection.  We will also be filling shoeboxes this Wednesday night immediately after supper with the supplies we have been collecting this year.  We’ll still have our Revelation Bible Study after folks are done with the “shoebox packing party”.  Finally, Don’t forget you can also build a shoebox online and track your shoebox by visiting: https://samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/buildonline

We have started the process of collecting Mayor Christmas Tree Applications for the coming Christmas season.  If you, or you know of a family that lives in our community that needs help with Christmas assistance, please have them reach out to me, or our church office.  We will be collecting application now through Nov. 13th.  After that – Church’s, Business, and other Organizations can help adopt these families by contacting our church office in care of M.C.T.

Finally, be sure to sign up and join us for our annual FBC Holiday Dinner on Wednesday, December 3rd at 5:15pm.  That same evening our WMU will be presenting a “Christmas Mission Moment” with a report of our own local food pantry and how they help and minister to so many within our community.  This will be a church-wide event with our children and youth joining us to hear this presentation.  We are asking each person to bring a canned food item or two as a “gift” that evening to be donated to our local food pantry, as well as your appreciated meal donation $$.  Again, be sure to sign up at the information table if you are planning on joining us for dinner so we can make sure we have enough for everyone!

Items most needed are: Chicken Noodle Soup, Cream of Mushroom Soup, Port & Bean’s, Chili or Kidney Beans, or canned fruit.
