Monday’s Moments…

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:4-7

Perhaps there is nothing harder (yet simpler) in all of scripture to genuinely apply into our lives than this scripture above.  Anxiety is thick in our lives and circumstances… yet the most simplest thing we can do is trust Jesus.  We are not told to evade responsibility, but instead – we become responsible to God as we practice trusting Him.  Problems will always exists in our church, and church families… but as we learned yesterday, sometime God allows temptation and trouble to test how we respond to the choices presented to us.

“Temptation avoided is a test passed with flying colors”.

Yesterday was another great day at FBC as we worshipped and acknowledged the Lord together – It was wonderful seeing so many guests and neighbors in our worship service!  Be sure to look around and welcome those who visit us each Sunday, who knows… you may just make a friend or two!  :-)

Don’t forget our Souper Bowl & Chili Challenge is coming up on Sunday, Feb. 4th.  Bring a pot of chili or soup (we’ll judge the chili), and bring some canned soup or non-perishables to donate to our local food pantry.  The judging will start and 5:00pm, and our football fellowship will begin at 5:30pm.  During halftime, we will watch a powerful 20 minute mini-movie from Billy Graham ministries.  Bring some food and a friend… we’ll end the party and clean up after half-time.

Finally – we have a family in our community who is in need of kitchen items (silverware, cooking utensils, baking sheet, pans, etc.).  If you have some items you would like to donate, please drop them off in the church office this week.  Also, don’t forget we have a clothes closet here at church… we’ll pass along your nice, gently used clothes and shoes if you have items to donate, and please pass the word to those who may have clothing needs we can help with.  Thank you for your giving!

Please Pray This Week:

  • Health & Recovery - Nadine Boman, Jerry Hickson, Terri Robbins, Colton Eshleman, Betty Johnson, Jerry Schildknecht, Cecil Lee Hertzberg
  • Homebound – Joann Miles, Cathy Bishop, Joyce Brammer, Jerry & Judy Buttress, Joann Drummond, Mary Schmidt
  • FBC – Preschool, Sunday School, Winter Faithfulness and Finances

Be Anxious for nothing – Pray and be thankful for everything!
