Monday’s Moments…

And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.”  1 John 3:23

I’m always amazed as I watch the Olympics of the vastness of God’s human creation… “ Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight”, is truly the tune that runs through my mind as I watched with wonder the opening and closing ceremonies.  The verse above reminds us that we must be steadfast in sharing Jesus with the world, and we do that through loving those that God loves… and at the very least, loving those that God has placed around us – whether a co-worker, neighbor, family member or friend.  Together, we must practice and pursue the command to love God, and love others.  That is our mandate as believers, and our mission at FBC.

I’ve heard good reports on our attendance and worship this past weekend as Rita and I were out of town attending a family wedding.  Thank you Brooks for filling in at the pulpit, and thank you FBC family for your overwhelming response and encouragement to Rita and I these past few days as we’ve been absent from our FBC family… your presence and prayers have been an amazing gift of comfort to us all.

Our Mayor’s Christmas Tree Committee will be hosting their annual “Ham & Bean” dinner this Saturday at the Methodist Church from 4:00-7:00pm.  All Proceeds will help fund our Mayor’s Christmas Tree project this coming year.  Besides Ham & Beans, there will be chili and soup as well.  Cost is $5.00 per person.  Come and enjoy the food and fellowship, and be a part of this great Christmas ministry to our community!
