Monday’s Moments…

Here’s and excerpt from a devotional I read this morning, thought we could use some encouragement as a church family :-)

GOD’S PRESENCE GIVES YOU COURAGE

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go”. Joshua 1:9

At bedtime the five-year child is afraid. Maybe it’s the dark. More likely it’s the fear of what might be lurking in the dark. The nightlight bulb is replaced, and countless words of assurance are spoken. But still the child trembles. Not until Dad enters the room and sits on the bed for several minutes does the child peacefully drift off to sleep.

There is something about a good and strong father’s presence that gives children security and peace.

This was the point of God’s promise to Joshua in the key verse for today as the nation of Israel stood poised to move into a strange land filled with strong enemies.

This is the point of God’s promise to you. He’s with you all the time … and that is more than enough. https://cf-cors.tecartabible.com/7/2108/urlbase/Art/star.png

GOD’S PROMISE TO ME

• You do not have to fear.

• You do not need to give in to discouragement.

• I am with you wherever you go.

MY PRAYER TO GOD

O Lord, you tell me to be strong and courageous—to not be afraid or discouraged. With all that I’m facing, such commands seem impossible. Help me believe this pledge, not just in my head, but deep within my heart. Make this truth real to me in my times of trouble. Amen

It's Christmas at FBC! Our sanctuary is beautifully decorated, Christmas Cards are being prepared, Living Nativity Preparations are being made, and the Preschoolers are rehearsing their songs for Sunday as I type through these moments… all this said, so to encourage you, and remind you to pray for all of the opportunities we have to be like Jesus - as we share Jesus - during this wonderful time of the year! Be sure to join us this Sunday as our Preschoolers help lead us in worship. And if someone is sitting in your seat, it’s ok… introduce yourself and sit with them! :-)

The Lottie Moon Christmas Mailbox in the foyer is available for you to mail your Christmas Cards to your church family without having to put an address or stamp on them. It is suggested by our WMU ladies that you put the money saved from not paying postage in the money can for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, which is next to the Christmas Card Mailbox. Please file your cards by last name. This year’s offering goal is $2,800.00 of which we have already collected over $1,600.00!

Many thanks for all those who have donated money towards our community Christmas Card and Living Nativity… our community Christmas card should be in the mail this week so to be in mailboxes by this weekend. Besides promoting some of our Christmas events at FBC, It is our way of helping remind people that Christ is Christmas… please pray that these cards will make an impact on someone as they discover or re-discover the gift of Jesus given at Christmas!
